Selling your action
Register for a tournament first, then set a markup and how much of your action you want to sell. You can only sell while the tournament is still in its registration window, and you’re free to cancel the sale any time before it actually starts.
Backing a player
1% increments
Stakes are purchased in increments of 1%, so you can back as much or as little as you want.
Pay in full
Backers pay the complete amount for the stakes they’ve bought upfront.
Mostly non-refundable
Once a stake is purchased, it’s non-refundable outside specific situations.
Deciding whether to sell or buy action
Selling makes sense if you’d rather lock in guaranteed value now and reduce your variance for an event you’re playing anyway. Buying makes sense if you believe in a specific player’s edge and want exposure to their result without playing yourself — in both cases, only commit what you’re genuinely comfortable with, since purchased stakes are largely non-refundable.
Selling vs. backing, at a glance
| Role | What you’re doing | Upside |
|---|---|---|
| Selling your action | Give up a share of your winnings | Guaranteed reduced variance on your buy-in |
| Backing a player | Fund part of someone else’s buy-in | A share of their winnings if they run deep |
Neither side of this trade is automatically the smart one — it depends entirely on who you are that day. Selling makes sense if you’d rather reduce variance on a buy-in that’s a stretch for your bankroll; backing makes sense if you’ve got a read on a player worth betting on. Know which side of the table you’re actually on before you jump in.
Common questions
When can I sell my action?
Only while the tournament is still in its registration phase — not once it’s underway.
Can I cancel a sale?
Sellers can cancel before the tournament starts. Once purchased, stakes are generally non-refundable for backers.
